Born 6 February 1945
Died 11 May 1981
Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician
In May 1980, Bob Marley and «The Wailers» started a major European tour. The biggest performance was a concert in Milan, which attracted more than 100,000 people. It was the biggest group concert. This tour wasn’t vain, the new album «Uprising» hit in every European chart. It was a time of maximum optimism. There were plans for the American winter tour with Stevie Wonder. At the end of the European tour, the group went to the U.S., but the tour suddenly interrupted. The reason for this was the musician faint during the concert at New York's Central Park. As it turned out later, Bob had a malignant cancer tumor in the brain.
Background of his illness was in that 3 years ago Bob Marley badly hurt his finger while playing football, which Bob loved very much. But after that Bob didn’t go to the hospital and after some time the wound became a cancer. It was found too late in Miami. Doctors offered to amputate the finger but Bob refused, citing religion and saying that the body should be united. In 1980, the cancer went into the most dangerous stage and began to spread through the Bob’s body.
He fought the disease for eight months, being treated at the clinic of Dr. Joseph in Bavaria. The method of treatment was controversial and was not toxic. But, unfortunately, the disease was very heavy and Bob left Germany and went to his homeland Jamaica. But this way he did not finish. Bob Marley died in Miami hospital on Monday May 11, 1981.

Bob Marley not always had good relationships with his family and particulary with his wife – Rita Marley. At the begining of thir relationships he had to word very hard, because of this he rarely saw his beloved. Then, when fame came to Bob he was always traveling and his wife was alone with children, frequently without money. There was no money not because he was greedy, but because he also didn’t have them. At that time everyone wanted to cheat him and make money by using his kindness and they did it sucessfully.
